    Governance Statement.

    Annual Governance Statement for the Governing Body of

    Kendall CE Primary School - July 2017

    In accordance with the Government’s requirement for all governing bodies, the core strategic functions of the Kendall Governing Body are:

    1.    Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

    2.    Ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils and staff;

    3.    Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;

    4.    Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

    Governance arrangements

    The Governing Body of Kendall CE Primary School was re-constituted in 2015 and is now made up of:

    3 Foundation Governors

    1 Local Authority Governor

    3 Elected Parent Governors

    1 Staff Governor

    The Head Teacher

    3 Co-opted Governors

    The Governing Body appoints co-opted Governors who are people who, in the opinion of the governing body, have the skills required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.

    We began the year with six governor vacancies which over the course of the academic year we have filled.

    We re-organised our meeting structure in 2016 and no longer have standing sub-committees. The full Governing Body meets six times a year and other committees meet as required to consider Headteacher Performance, pay, discipline and other staffing matters.
