Reopening

The government announcement that their ‘ambition is to bring all primary year groups back to school before the summer holidays, for a month if feasible, though this will be kept under review. We will only welcome back additional year groups if the most up-to-date assessment of the risk posed by the virus indicates it is appropriate to have larger numbers of children within schools. The safety of children and staff is our utmost priority.’

The school has been working hard to make plans, following government guidance, to being reopening to children from 1st June. Although we are conscious that these plans may need to change based on developing circumstance, we outline here the school's approach to gradually re-opening and welcoming more children back into our school.

When will children return to Kendall?

w/b Mon 25th May (Half Term) - Closed

Mon 1st June (non-pupil day) - Closed

from Tues 2nd June - All Key Worker Children; Vulnerable Children and those with an EHCP

from Mon 8th June - All EYFS Children

from Mon 15th June - All Year 1 Children

THESE DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT SHORT NOTICE AND WILL DEPEND UPON THE
GOVERNMENT'S TRACK AND TRACE SYSTEM BEING FULLY FUNCTIONAL

The school will later review the situation with regards to how we can bring back some of the older children into school. Currently we cannot accommodate Year 6 children because we do not have the physical space to do so. The Government guidance to schools clearly states that we must prioritise pupils in the order that we have done above, while we gradually re-open our school.

What precautions is the school taking?

Our Risk Assessment outlines all of the actions and precautions we are taking to reduce the risk of transmission at Kendall. It also describes the plan for daily routines and includes timetables. As this is a working document, it may be subject to some changes as the school re-opens. We will update it as and when necessary and inform parents and carers of any changes.
