School Council

January 2019

The school council have been looking a book all about the life story of Captain Coram.

They are planning an assembly for the whole school based on his life and the importance of equal rights for all. Later in the year we look forward to looking more closely at the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

October 2018

Today the school council met to take a final vote on the two charities that they would like us to support this year. They chose:

Local Charity 2018-19: Emmaus Colchester
National Charity 2018-18: Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity

The school council have now gone back to their classes to come up with some ideas about how to raise money for these very worthy causes. Check out our page again soon to find out what our plans are.

September 2018

Today the new representatives on the school council met for the first time following the class elections. Everyone was very excited to learn about what the role of a school councillor involves!

Now that we have elected our chair and vice-chair, our first job is to decide which local and national charities we will support through our fundraising days this year. Hopefully we'll be able to share this news with you soon.

Our School Council aims to ensure that all pupils have:

 A voice!

A safe, happy, fair learning environment.

A forum to voice their concerns and act upon them.

An opportunity to take an active part in the management of the school.

A sense of ownership over policy and practice.

An understanding of the British Value of Democracy and how this ensures fairness and equality for all.

Our school council members from September 2018 are:

Year 2 - Layla & Ashley
Year 3 - Grace & Bilgin
Year 4 - India & Emmeline
