School History

In 1890 Kendall School was founded to provide education according to the principles and practices of the Church of England in the New Town Area.

The school transferred to the new site in January 1976. Kendall's position is unique, sheltered and compact, with many mature trees, grassy banks and borders, which are well maintained.

Our present building has seven carpeted classrooms which have been built or redecorated since the start of 2012. It also has a hall, library, ICT suite and other spaces and rooms for the children to work in as well as our kitchen which we use to provide high quality and healthy school meals.

Since September 2007, we have worked with Puddleducks Pre-school Colchester Ltd to see that pre-school provision is available on our site. They now use our new purpose built pre-school building.

Our position as a voluntary controlled church school is important to us and our families. Our six core values of Peace, Friendship, Thankfulness, Respect and Reverence, Forgiveness and Compassion run through all that we try to do for our children and their families. Our local Church of England vicar takes assemblies each term and we have special celebrations in our local church, for example, for Harvest, Christmas and Easter.
